The community of Kensington is located in the Berkeley Hills of San Francisco’s East Bay, part Contra Costa County. It covers less than one square mile of land, home to a population of more than 5,000 residents.
Despite Kensington’s affluence, the town remains unincorporated to this day, bordered by Berkeley and Albany to the south, El Cerrito to the west and north, and Wildcat Canyon and Tilden Regional Parks to the east. Mostly residential, Kensington maintains a couple shopping areas and a number of small businesses. The community is known for its restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops, in addition to the Kensington Farmers Market. Blake Garden is located in Kensington, along with several parks for hiking, biking and dog walking.
